“Where did the Chinese Calendar come from?”
According to Chinese mythology, the Jade Emperor decided to organize time. He announced a “Great Race” and invited all the animals on earth to join in and swim across the great river. He declared that the first 12 animals to come to the far shore would have a place in the calendar forever. This tale is about the animals who swam across the river and found a place in the Chinese Calendar.
